Better Business Bureau Produces Consumer Education Videos
Available for Free Viewing Through Public Libraries
(CITY, STATE, DATE) - In the (name of city or county) area and across the country Better Business Bureaus are joining forces with the public library system to provide the latest consumer education program: The Better Business Bureau Video Series.
"The Better Business Bureau system responds to nearly 11,000,000 calls a year addressing a variety of consumer issues. We are using our data to ascertain which video topics consumers demand most urgently," said Al Beatty of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB), an umbrella organization for BBBs.
Compiling national data, interviewing local librarians and working hand in hand with industry leaders, the Better Business Bureau is producing videos that are specifically made to satisfy the needs of the library, and the demands of interested consumers.
The first video, "Buying a Recreational Vehicle" addresses the 10.4 billion dollar recreational vehicle industry. Library patrons can borrow the BBB video to find out about the different types, sizes and floorplans of RV's, learn the differences between gas and diesel, learn how to check on the reliability of an RV dealer, discover where to get additional RV information, and become educated on how to evaluate a used RV.
Buying a recreational vehicle is one of the largest investments a person will make in his or her lifetime, so it's important to be an informed and educated consumer. Among the consumer tips offered in the new BBB RV video is caution against buying a recreational vehicle from a parking lot or campground. Make sure the previous owner has a verifiable address. Don't be rushed by the seller. Spend several hours using your imagination and acting out your "real life" daily routine. Always check a used RV for water damage and "dry rot"; both are deceptively expensive to repair. Always call the BBB for a reliability report on the dealer before buying an RV.
"The video medium is entertaining and excellent for this type of consumer education. Instead of telling the consumers to 'kick the tires'; our video shows consumers HOW to kick the tires," said (Bureau President's name), President of (Bureau Name).
Because the Better Business Bureau Videos are created to respond to current need, the future video topics are up to the consumer! "If you're having difficulty with any consumer issue, call the (Bureau Name) and let us know, then check the video section of your public library. If the topic is not yet available, tell your local librarian and stay tuned...," said (BBB President).
